Game 1: Manual Arts
The Lancers suffered a tough loss on
Thursday to the Toilers of Manual Arts 13-18 at Manual Arts. The Lancers had
two costly mistakes that cost them the game, a fumble and a kickoff return that
resulted in 12 Toiler points. The
Lancers were down 12-6 at half time and were able to climb back to get a 13-12
lead late in the fourth quarter with great performance from Israel Salas,
Richard Romero and Craig Alexander. The Lancers were sent home, when the
Toilers scored a late touchdown with only 2 minutes remaining. The Lancers were
lead offensively by the rushing trio of Salas, Alexander and Romero who
combined for almost 200 yards rushing. Defensively Wilmer Muñoz, Ronald Aragon
and Francisco Jones lead the way. Player of the Game was Israel Salas, who
contributed tremendously offensively and defensively in the loss. Next up for
the Lancers, the Lincoln Tigers at Lincoln.
The Lancers
crushed the Tigers 27-0 on Thursday at Lincoln High. The Lancers were lead by
Israel Salas again who rushed for 101 yards on 10 carries and scored a
touchdown. The Lancers were well balanced on offence with Gabriel Stasilli,
Richard Romero and Wilmer Muñoz also scoring a touchdown each. The Lancers
grinded the ball with almost 200 yards rushing again and a nice mix of passing
yardage (74) lead by Marlon Romero. Defensively, Francisco Jones, Eddie Gola,
Craig Alexander, Luc Martin, Richard Romero, Gabriel Stasilli along with Israel
Salas had fantastic games. Craig Alexander lead the team with 2 sacks, Eddie
Gola had a safety, and Richard Romero, Francisco Jones and Luc Martin each had
an interception. The Lancers face Palisades High this Thursday at Grant. The
Lancers were beaten last year by the Dolphins, so the Lancers should be ready
for payback.
The Lancers lost
a tough game to the Palisades Dolphins 12-0 at Grant. The Lancers had many
opportunities to score but were unable, including a touchdown called back by a
clipping call, being stopped with only a foot to go on the goal line and a
fumble with only minutes left while going into the end zone. Craig Alexander
and Richard Romero lead the team offensively and defensively, each having 8
tackles and almost 100 yards rushing combined. They were named co-players of
the game. Next up for the Lancers, a very tough Cleveland Cavaliers team that
beat Monroe 59-0, Palisades 27-0 and beat Grant last year 55-0. The
much-improved Lancers will have to bring their “A” game and a lot of
aggression. GOOD LUCK and beat Cleveland.
The Lancers lost last Thursday 14-41
against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Lancers were up 14-12 in the fourth
quarter when the Lancers started to lose players to injury and then could no
longer contain the very athletic Cavaliers. At one point, Grant had 6 starters
out because of injury, which lead to 29 unanswered points allowed in the fourth
quarter. Richard Romero, Craig Alexander, and Eddie Gola lead the team. Richard
rushed for 74 yards on 11 carries, including a 55 yard touchdown run.
Defensively he had 8 solo tackles and caused and recovered a fumble. Craig had
a tremendous game defensively having 10 solo tackles while also sharing duty at
tailback. Eddie Gola also had a great defensive effort recording 8 solo tackles
and sharing a sack with Ronald Aragon. The Lancers are now 1-3 and facing
Reseda High, who lost to Canoga Park 20-0. Lets go Lancers…….Beat those
Regents!
Game 5: Reseda
The Lancers ended their non-league
schedule with a win at Reseda 14-9. The Lancers survived a game full of missed
opportunities, gaining 315 yards total offence but only getting into the
endzone twice. The Lancers were down 2-0 at halftime, but rallied in the fourth
after being down 9-0. Wilmer Muñoz called his own number and ran 12 yards for
the touchdown. Richard Romero scored the game winning touchdown on a
magnificent grab in the end zone with 3 people around him. Isreal Salas, Danny
Ruiz, and Francisco Jones also had a good game. The Lancers face the Dons of
Verdugo Hills as they start Sunset Six League play. Good Luck Lancers, kill Verdugo!
The Lancers lost
their league opener on Friday 27-0. The Lancers were stunned by the Dons
powerful running game and committed 4 turnover. The Lancers bright spot was
Israel Salas, who lead the team with 13 tackles. The Lancers must be prepared
to face the Hunters of Canoga Park, which beat Poly 20-8. Good Luck Lancers!
With Starters
Wilmer Muñoz, Richard Romero and Db Luc Martin lost for the game and Raul Soto
and Ronald Aragon lost in the 1st quarter, the Lancers lost a close
one 13-7. The Lancers had 5 new starters for this game, all played very well considering.
Francisco Jones, Gabriel Stasilli and Ricardo Crisanto lead the way for Grant.
The lone touchdown was scored on a Francisco Jones to Craig Alexander pass. The
Lancers fall to 0-2 in Sunset 6 play. Hollywood is the next opponent on
Thursday at Hollywood. The Sheiks fell 34-14 to Poly High.

20 yards. Israel Salas also had a tremendous
game with 2 touchdowns and 82 yards rushing. Israel also had two long touchdown
runs called back because of penalties. The team rushed for over 300 yards.
The Lancers
finished the year on a great note by beating the local rivals 26-16. It was an
exciting game in which, the lead changed 4 times. The Lancers lead at halftime
7-0, with Gabriel Stasilli breaking 3 tackles on his way to a 25 touchdown
reception, and Craig Alexander dominating on defense. In the second half, the Huskies came out gunning and scored on a
long pass, but the Lancers answered right back with a long run by Israel Salas.
The Huskies again took the lead 16-14 in the fourth quarter, but the Lancers
answered. Francisco Jones hit Gabriel Stasilli on a 30 yard pass to set up the
Francisco Jones 1 yard run. Finally, with 3 minutes to go and the Huskies
